Easier and faster way to report bad subtitles ...

I have many times evaded reporting bad subtitles because my time is sometimes scarce ... having to go to subscene.com: Either trying to remember which sub i downloaded, or clickling through all links until i get the right number can be too time consuming, so ...

To ease the work for us that take this site seriously (and this is THE site for subtitles) - can you please make a specific search function for the reference numbers - or simply implement the option to get right link first time, by implementing the number search option in the existing one, so by entering the digits in the search you get the link, can copy and paste in report forum.

Also - sometimes i have to go to my posts in order to find the thread where i report bad subscenes. I have looked a bit on the sites pages and there is no obvious link to where we can report bad subs.

Link to that thread can be placed in the forums menu: Forums/subtitle discussions

Thank you ...

First of all, thanks for reporting regularly. It helps a lot to keep THE site a little cleaner. :-)

Also thanks for your input.

You are right, the system is awkward and inconvenient. To be honest, it's not even a system really. We do need a system that is connected to the rating system. We have the fake rating which could serve for marking machine translations as well - in theory. The problem is that the admins don't even have a good way of browsing through the list of fake-rated subtitles.

I think that there should be a way to flag the subtitles as bad/fake/google trans and make a comment if needed. This flag should be visible to all users. The admins need a list where they can browse those flagged subtitles by date and other criteria.

I also think that each user should have a list of recently downloaded subtitles available, which is the only intelligent way of rating and flagging anyway. IT's an easy way to come back later and rate, praise or complain. We could even think about a "stolen" flag where you have to enter the link to the original subtitles to compare with. No message needed, easier to check for the admins.

BTW: For the admins the process from the report message to the verification and deletion is even more complicated than the reporting itself. I know, it's hard to believe...and it must change, too. It's already on the list of improvements. Let's hope it will make it into subscene v3.0.

:) I know all you inform of - and I have even been offered the "job" (TEDIOUS - very true) of running through all the danish subtitles and report them.

I had to give up eventually since the only way I could make a difference was to go into forum and report each and every fake, bad, machine translated and impossible etc subtitle I could find.

Problem was that I could "report only" - not having some kind of admin right to delete on the spot, or click on a "shortcut button". So going through subtitles, skimming them for flaws and then go back and grab the link to the report forum was overwhelming me - I think at the time I had to face around 12,000 danish subtitles.

Yes I am very aware of the hard, tedious and sometimes almost impossible job to clean out - and I can only say: You all have my full sympathy :)

Your suggestion of: The list of recently downloaded subs is both an awesome idea and brilliant. Not many go back to rate or comment on a subtitle after the download and watching the movie - It's easier not to - so having a list of downloaded subtitles can make the spot on one time click I am looking for:

Bad sub > log in > browse list > click matching reference number and if I also have a chance, on the actual page where the sub is found, to click either of these buttons: [report machine translation] [Report too many mispellings] [Report out of sync] [report (what is necessary] ... it will ease the job significantly and I think more will then go back and report since it can be done this easy way.

Thumbs up - I love the idea > (not giving you an order) ... implement it :)
